This episode of INTERVENTION: BROOKE is about a 26-year-old woman who
as a teenager was beautiful and vivacious with a magnetic
personality. She grew up in a tight-knit, Christian home and became
an elite gymnast on the high school cheerleading squad with promise
of a successful athletic life ahead. Then tragedy struck ? she was
crippled by Steele's disease, an early form of rheumatoid arthritis.
She became disabled by her pain and was treated with narcotics. It
wasn't long before Brooke lived solely for her medications,
constantly seeking relief from the agony.
Brooke's addiction has escalated and her heartbroken family has
unsuccessfully sought new treatments and methods to relieve her pain
and addiction, but Brooke denies she is an addict and insists that
she is doing what she's been instructed to do by her doctors. Her
family can no longer sit by and watch her deteriorate. An
intervention is their last hope. Interventionist: Ken Seeley.
